The Office of the Chief Financial Officer announced Friday that Intralot would be recommended to take over the city's lottery system for what could be the next 10 years, depending on contract renewals.
The selection had been highly controversial as international firms Intralot and GTech, the current vendor, battled it out for the District turf. They both had been partnered with well-connected local business interests, and there were accusations of favoritism on both sides.
The council rejected a contract awarded to Intralot, which was partnered with local firm W2I, a new company with ties to Mayor Adrian M. Fenty (D)."
